Ian's Previous Projects

Ian Somerhalder plays the character Dr. Luther Swann in the series V-Wars (2019). The show focuses on a virus that breaks out after ice begins melting due to climate change. Dr. Luther Swann's best friend, Micheal, attracts the virus and becomes a deadly vampire. As the virus spreads, the world divides between human and vampire. Dr. Luther Swann frantically tries to find the cure. Micheal tries to take over the world with an army of vampires.

The 2014 film, Anamoly, is a sci-fi film about an ex-soldier, Ryan, who wakes up in the back of a van with a kidnapped young boy. Ryan is suffering from a dissasociative amnesia that only allows him to stay awake for 9 minutes and 47 seconds. He uses his brief moments of conciousness to try and save the boy. Ian Somerhalder plays the antagonist, Harkin Langham. Harkin manipulates Ryan as he is a part of the scheme to implant mind controlling devices into people's heads.
Ian Somerhalder starred in the show, Lost (2004-2010), as a main character in season one. Oceanic flight 815 crashes into a South Pacific island leaving the survivors to rely on each other to survive the mysteries of the island. Boone Carlyle, Ian's character, took charge and explored mysterious hatches on the island. Ian's character helped to set up the shows unpredictable nature.

The 2006 film, Pulse, focuses on ghostly spirits invading the real world through the internet. This invasion of spirits causes dissapearances and mass suicides. Ian Somerhalder, who plays Dexter McCarthy, is a computer hacker who helps the main character Mattie fight the spiritual entities through his technical abilities.


The 2008 film, The Lost Samaritan, Ian Somerhalder plays the main role of an ordinary man, William Archer. William Archer helps a victim in a tragic car crash, but is unaware that the FBI had planned for this victim to be killed. The movie focuses on William Archer and the victim running from the FBI as he is a witness to the crime.

The 2000's TV show, Young Americans, focused on a working-class kid who cheats his way into the prestigious Rawley Academy for Boys. Ian Somerhalder played the character, Hamilton Fleming. Hamilton was the son of the dean at this prestigious school. Hamilton's main storyline was that he found himself attracted to the boy, Jake Pratt. Jake Pratt was a teenage girl in disguise. This made Hamilton question his sexuality upon finding out.
Ian Somerhalder is an executive producer in the film/documentary, Kiss the Ground (2020). The film focuses on the act of using soil regeneration to help fix climate change. The film advocates for regenerative farming. It focuses on soil sequestration, restoring ecosystems, and boosting food security.

Ian Somerhalder starred in the film, How to Make Love to a Woman (2010). Ian played the character, Daniel Meltzer. Andy, the main character, is attempting to fix his relationship with his fiance, Lauren, by improving his skills in bed rather than deepening their emotional connection. Daniel and Lauren rekindle at work and realize they were bestfriends during childhood. Andy becomes insecure of Daniel, Ian's character, until ultimately he realizes if he wants Lauren to have a good time in bed, he needs to say "I love you". Daniel helps him to realize this.
